OUR STORY

Built from a vision to impart skills for a better tomorrow.

Shalom Vocational Training Centre was shaped by a family commitment to practical education, enterprise and opportunity for young people in Namibia.

Mrs. Diana Gure

Long before Shalom existed, Mrs. Gure’s path was shaped by a restless, generous kind of enterprise. She taught for a time, trained in nursing and midwifery, and built businesses ranging from selling sweets at school to trading foodstuffs and clothing.

In Grootfontein she recognised something the town badly needed: not another shop, but a way to equip its young people for the future. That conviction became Shalom.

“All I’ve always wanted to do was put a smile on the face of children — they are our future. I have lived and done my part; it is now their turn to carry on.”

Dr. Buba S. “The General” Gure

Dr. Gure’s path into agriculture began with discipline and distinction. He trained as a teacher in Nigeria, earned a Diploma in General Agriculture with Distinction, and later studied in Bulgaria, specialising in Ecology and Melioration of Soil.

His career brought decades of expertise in agriculture, education and technical development to Shalom, helping shape an institution grounded in practical learning and productive skills.

For Christiana Gure, Shalom is family legacy as much as vocation. Trained in Marketing, Advertising and Public Relations, she supported the institution remotely for years before her father invited her home to lead full-time in February 2024. Two months later, his sudden passing turned that invitation into a calling — she has led the institution’s day-to-day operations ever since.

Her portfolio spans strategy, operations, HR, marketing, compliance and institutional development alongside her mother, Mrs. Diana Gure.

Her five-year vision is for Shalom to be recognised among Namibia’s respected vocational institutions — known for skilled graduates, operational excellence, strong industry partnerships and thriving production units, with graduates equipped with confidence and an entrepreneurial mindset.

CONTINUING THE VISION

A legacy carried forward

Mrs. Diana Gure continues to lead Shalom as Managing Director and Co-Founder, carrying forward the institution she built alongside her late husband.

“Study. Remember what brought you here. You are not only the leaders of tomorrow — you are the leaders of today. What you sow now is what you will reap when you graduate. Don’t wait till it’s too late to do something for yourself.”
